Second one in the "Heart" series. This is the man's point of view. | |||
Slamming the Door to My Heart ~ Sitting by the window, warmed by the love within, I see him and wait for his approach. Have to wonder if he's coming in or has moved on. Foolish dreams keep my heart beating. But thoughts of being forgettable make me realize I'm nothing special. I can't give up the hope of wishing on bygone days. My prayer is for him to be happy. Even if I'm not the one making him that way. ~ He waits, cold to the bone, teeth chattering from his shivering, for a sign from inside. Wants to see an outstretched hand, a green light in her eyes, anything to bring him back where he hungers to be. He turns to walk away more bitter than he's ever been. ~ He dreams of impossible things, yet only sees the obtainable. Puts childish fantasies behind him, he watches her in the golden light and dreams of things unaccessible. The pain is intolerable, but can't refuse one more look. Turning to face the window, his heart shatters again. The love he wants to feel can't be felt within a heart Click here to read the rest of this story (91 more lines)
