clouded by insight.

~

His hopes have been repeatedly dashed,

love and romance hasn't been his forte.

Left him feeling used, abused,

and standoffish with people

who aren't his true friends.

He longs for more,

but realizes you can't base life

on things without change.

~

He wishes for nothing.

Recognizes to do so

would open up a world

better left unexplored.

Afraid to take the first step,

terrified to lose what he's found,

and horrified to realize

how much it sincerely means.

Handsome and strong,

miserable and ashamed,

broken but undefeated,

his walls go back up.

His heart turns

to icy, unmoving stone.

~

He prays to do the right thing,

but so wants to do the wrong.

Can't forgive himself

on past things done.

Won't forgive her

for leading him down this road

better left untraveled.

Shouldn't feel the way he does,

but can't help himself anymore.

Distance is what he really prays for,

and a vision left unexamined.

~

Still he waits, dreams,

hopes, wishes,

and, prays to be

the keeper of

~

My heart.
