I wanted to write a poem for Christmas because it's so near. I'm not really into the spirit this year, so I thought I would recall the past. | |||
Christmas From the Past ~ I remember being a child, eyes open wide wondering what was in the gaily wrapped boxes under the tree, on Christmas Morning. The house smelling of cinnamon and raisins. The fire simmering in the wood burning stove. Santa's plate empty. The carrots, for the reindeer of course, being gone. ~ Daddy at the stove making his famous Pancake la modes. Momma in the bed, sleeping late her one day of the year. Hopping from foot to foot, begging to just open one. My brother, patiently waiting while sitting at the table. Filling me with hatred yet again this day. ~ He woke me up when I was dreaming of sugar plums dancing in my head. Dreams full of merriment and excitement, make-believe Princes and Knights Click here to read the rest of this story (71 more lines)
