A woman who reflects on being "Daddy's Little Girl." A tribute to my father who will be dead 27 years this Saturday.

Daddy's Little Girl

When I was little,

You were there for me.

I followed you around,

Like a lost puppy.

You were my hero,

The light in my eyes.

If I cried,

You were there.

If I giggled

You laughed.

When I asked questions,

You always had an answer.

I was,

Daddy's little girl.

Things changed,

I didn't understand.

You left me,

Alone and still.

The light left my eyes,

To never return,

Because you chose,

A path I didn't believe in.

I searched for you,

In every boy,

Who would look my way.

Not knowing,

You weren't to be had.

But I remained,

Daddy's little girl.

Marriages I've made,

Lovers I've had,

Children I've born,

With you no where around.

Looked for you still,

In the eyes of my children.

They both have brown eyes,

So much like yours.
