Love and Hate Part 1 By: Lori When I started writing this, it was anticipated to be a small piece on these two words. But, as I continued to write it kept getting longer. So to make it time efficient to read, I've made it into a series. Every Friday I will add a new piece to this, so please stay turned. It does have meaning and in time you will understand it. In the beginning it's a little boring, but please stay with it. There are some things I want to say about my subject first. Some of you will understand these, and some won't. For the ones who do, this is dedicate to you. To those that don't, maybe you should examine your heart and soul to see why you don't. Do you ever wonder what the definition of love is? An online dictionary has 28 definitions for this one little word. I'm not going to name them all, for this blog will be lengthier than I desire it to be. Here are a the two I like: 1.profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. 2.the benevolent affection of God for His creatures, or the reverent affection due from them to God. Beautiful, aren't they? When you think of love this is what you think of, right? You get the warm tingles all over your body, you heart goes to fluttering, your stomach drops to your knees, and you feel such incredible joy in your soul. It's so nice to be in love. Here's are two of my favorite quotes on love that I like: 1. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. Bible ~I Corinthians 13:4-8~ 2. Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down. ~Oprah Winfrey~ What is on the other side of the coin to love? Hate, a word who's very name should be taken out of the dictionary in my opinion. Luckily for us it only has 10 definitions. Here are a two of its definitions: 1.to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward; detest: to hate the enemy; to hate bigotry. 2. An object of detestation or hatred. This word is ugly and distasteful. It brings to mind darkness, evil, and, abomination. It makes your stomach churn in disgust, causes you to sweat bullets from fear, and to feel anger towards another human being or thing. Here are three of my favorite quotes on hate: 1. Few people can be happy unless they hate some other person, nation, or creed. ~Bertrand Russel~ 2. It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not. ~Andre Gide~ 3. Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Now that you have a idea of what both words mean and some words of wisdom about them, let's get on with it. For this series my questions are: Why do we love some, but hate others? What do we gain by doing this? Who do we affect when the words get confused? And last but now least. How can we change it? Why do we love some, but hate others? I choose this one first because Click here to read the rest of this story (61 more lines)
