I normally don't believe in love at first sight. But I feel something is special about me and him. I just can't quite put my finger on what it is.

Chapter 9

He told me to park in the driveway when I called to let him know I was
on my way. So, I parked on the street. I just didn't feel comfortable
with my car being up in his drive way. Besides, I wanted to play hard
and insensitive. I learned from my first experience that being me is
the best way to be. I am stubborn so he may as well learn this early
on in the friendship/relationship. (I know I am jumping the gun but he
is potentially a prospect and I had a presentiment about him before we
met so I am just going to let things fall where they may.) Not to
mention that this is a neighborhood where he and I both grew up. We
have mutual and not so mutual friends in the area, so I feel it's best
that I park on the street.

The house was a huge white house slightly elevated on a hill with a long
upward driveway leading to a two car garage. A large porch surrounding
the entire front side and behind the house was a spacious and enormous
backyard. Behind the house was the garage large and white with one
door opening for both sides. The backyard had a huge maple tree
probably for shade and also green patio furniture with decorative
leaves all over them. Just to the right in the rear of the house was
the back door. I rang the bell.

"You finally made it," he says with the cutest smile opening the door.
"Come on in. Why didn't you park in the drive way?" He said this while
limping up the stoop to the back door.

"I saw the other cars there and didn't want to block anyone in." I said
lying. The truth was that my car wasn't all that and I didn't want to
disrespect his father by parking in his space. "What happened to your
leg?"

"I got a minor sprang playing basketball but it'll be straight in a
couple of days," he says. "This is JB and this is my cousin Remmy.
And this is Shaela."

"Hello," was all I said while looking at the two guys about my age
standing in the den. I barely remember them speaking to me as I
checked both of them out. Remmy was tall like Marc with a lot of his
features but had a bit of immaturity in his stance. He smiled at me
and I smiled back. He seemed sweet. JB was a rugged, handsome guy.
He wasn't as tall as Marc but there was this sort of aura about him, a
smoothness. Very sexy eyes and dark features made his sight a
mysterious one but a very handsome mystery. He seemed not as sweet as
Remmy but sincerity did peak through his eyes.

"How ya doin'," JB said while taking a break from his dinner to look at
me.

"Hello, Shaela," said Remmy. I really think I am getting the feeling
that he likes me.

"JB brought back Salisbury steak instead of steak like I asked. I hope
that's okay with you?" So very considerate.

"I'm starving so whatever it is I'll take it," was all I said but I
could already tell I wouldn't be comfortable eating here with three
almost perfect strangers.

"Alright, Marc," JB said while standing and stretching after smashing
his dinner. "I'll talk to you later. Nice meeting you Shaela."

"Bye, good meeting you too," was all I said hoping he couldn't hear the
relief in my tone. I was hungry but I wanted to be lady like and that
would be a struggle with Marc alone as it.

"Well, I am headed next door so I'll see you tomorrow," Remmy said while
putting on this huge down coat with tiny feathers floating around him.
"See you later, Shaela." Was that his approval of Marc seeing me
again?

I heard the side door close. We're finally alone.
