Keli gets caught in the rain, making her way home. While walking, a stranger stops in his car to offer her a lift. She wasn't taking any chance, so she said no. Little did she realize that that would be the last time she would see him. | |||
It was raining hard, leaving Keli to get soaked as she walked home. But then this car pulled up next to her. ‘Want a lift?' someone shouted after winding down the car door window' ‘No thanks,' Keli replied. ‘I only live around the corner.' She lied. She had over half a mile to walk. She wasn't taking the chance, accepting a lift from someone she didn't know. Anything could have happened to her once she had got inside that car. Once home, she had a shower and changed, then went and watched the TV. There was nothing else to do. But while watching the TV, she kept thinking about the driver who had stopped to offer her a lift. He was very good-looking, and the car he was driving looked to be a brand new B.M.W; not the type of car the average weirdo would be driving. Anyway, she knew she would never see him again, so she let it slip from her mind - that was until the next day while she was waiting for the bus. ‘No good offering you a lift then? You turn me down yesterday.' ‘It's you from last night, driving that B.M.W. Why are you waiting for a bus if you have got a car like that?' ‘Broken down, would you believe. Got to get to work somehow. I haven't been on a bus for ages. Seems like a nice change. Better than having to concentrate on all the traffic while I am driving.' Keli had another surprise. The shop where she worked was expecting a new manager. When she got off the bus, the man she had got on the same bus as also got off at the same stop as her. Then he seemed to follow her into the shop. What was happening? Then she found out that he was the new manager. Later, she was called into his office. ‘You wanted to see me?' Keli said to him. ‘Yeah, I do.' ‘So, what do you want to say to me?' ‘Am I allowed to ask any of the shop floor staff for a date?' ‘Are you winding me up? Who did you want to ask out?' ‘You!' Keli didn't know-how answer that one. This seriously good-looking man who drives a B.M.W. was asking her out. Things like that just didn't happen to her. She looked at his left hand. There was no sign of a wedding ring. What did she have to lose? ‘So what did you have in mind?' she asked him, intrigued what reply she was going to get. ‘A nice little Italian restaurant.' ‘So, are we getting the bus to this nice Italian restaurant? Or are we walking it?' ‘We are going by car. I should get it back by tonight. One of my neighbours is a mechanic and he owes me a few favours.' How could a girl resist such an offer? There was no way she was going to say no, so she said yes. On her way home, she couldn't believe her luck. But why was he asking her out? She was confused. But she was still excited. She couldn't wait to get home so as she could find herself something nice to wear. At least she didn't have to bother about getting any tea. She was dining out in a fancy restaurant. They had an amazing evening. And that car he drove was unbelievable. He took her home in it. It was so automated. There was even this voice Click here to read the rest of this story (78 more lines)
