As our work and computers make us move faster, what changes will take place because of this? Will our present units of time need to change to describe this sped up version of life? | |||
Everything changes Assembles... arranges New puzzle parts fitting Like money exchanges Just try to stand still Just give it a try The life that you're living Will oft pass you by The car that you're driving Will rest in a heap A scrap-man's desire A thought you can't keep The house you live in Will raze to the ground No way to stay there Foundation unsound The people you know Will shrink and get old Then suddenly gone A shock to behold New styles approaching And new words to use We don't even know yet Don't look in the news And all transformation Will future take hold Unstoppable sequence All doomed to grow old Just what is the new? When days happen faster Will living the now Result in disaster? Can fast enough be? Catch up to the future Only to pass it By some strange a'ven'ture Will hours and minutes Lose all of their meaning?
