“My name is Sarah, and I’m a freak.” Sarah doesn’t know her past, and neither do her friends Aaron, Jake, and Jen. They live with her, wandering around without purpose in the world, but when Sarah meets her long-lost sister, her life takes a turn for the | |||
I Hi. If you are reading this, then you found my diary, or whatever you want to call it. I don't know why I decided to write this down. I guess I thought that my story would be interesting to someone. Well, anyway, I'm just a normal kid who lives with my every-day family. If I said that, I'd be the world's biggest liar. The people I live with are my family, but we're not blood-related (I think). You see, we've been living together for as long as we can remember, which is age 5, to be exact. It's weird, ‘cause none of us can remember anything past 5. I've stayed up all night a couple times (which I don't recommend doing, seeing that I'm grouchy and annoying the whole next day), trying to remember myself as a toddler, but I remember absolutely nothin'. Crap, I never even wrote down my name! My name is Sarah, and I'm a freak. ‘What do you mean by freak?' you ask? Let me introduce you to my family. First, there's Jake. I'll just be blunt about this, no use in building suspense. Wait, I just did. He's psychic. And not the read-your-palm-and-spout-sayings-that-make-you-sound-like-a-fortune-cook ie kind of psychic, I'm talking the read-your-mind-and-move-things-witho ut-touching-them kind of psychic. Yeah, I know. It freaks me out, too. He's actually a really nice guy and respects your boundaries. He doesn't do anything like peeking into your thoughts. At least, I don't think he does, but I'm not too sure, you can't feel him poking around in there. Huh, I should probably be more careful around him, just in case. Well, anyway, he's usually quiet around people and always seems to be thinking. Oh, I really need to rethink how I act around him! Okay, maybe I'm going overboard on him. I'm just egging myself on; he's not really that kind of guy. (Sorry, Jake!) I've spent way too much time (and paper) on Jake, so I'm gonna move on. Next in our merry little group is Jen. The first thing that comes to mind when describing her is emo, but her personality is anything but. She's the little optimist in our group. She's almost always happy, which sometimes is annoying, just never to me. The reason emo comes to mind is partially the way she looks, partially her reason for being a freak. You see, she has the power of darkness. Yeah, I know, it sounds cool, but it's not. It scares me. A lot. She's really nice and sweet, and she is very patient, but if you make her angry, it will terrify you. Oh, and did I mention that she's blind? And yes, it is ironic that she controls darkness, and that's all she can see (But don't mention it to her, ‘cause she gets mad real fast if you do, and that's how I found out how scary she is. She's the only one that can remember anything past 5, but when we were 5, she was barely a month old. If you're wondering how she can fight, she can ‘sense' shadows. She can tell who and where people are, unless it's dark out, because then there are no shadows, obviously. My advice: Be nice, don't mess with her and don't mention her blindness.
