Everyone believes that the stalker is gone but Brenda knows different. She is the only one who is aware of how dangerous he is but everyone she can trust, think that she is crazy.

CHAPTER THREE THE WATCHER'S IMPACT ON HER LIFE

Brenda had to see a psychiatrist in order to get the visions out of her
mind. When camp was truly over, she lamented for the time when she
would have to see her friends. She knew that they would be horrified
by her obsession with finding the stalker, Brady.

Jack was first to call, "Hi, is Brenda there?"

"This is her. Hi Jack," her voice was scratchy and sore.

"Well, we got back and there was no sign of Brady. Maybe he just left,"
Jack wanted her to forget about the incident and perhaps with the
disappearance of Brady, she could.

"No, he's waiting for the perfect moment when he can kill me. I know
it, and I am scared," Brenda mumbled. She was about to cry again for
she was sure that he was waiting to kill her.

"Brenda, you are way over reacting. He's never coming after you again.
He probably got caught by the cops or something. Please, just let it
go," she begged. How would her friend ever get over it if she clung
stubbornly to the rotten idea of death?

"Yeah right, don't you think that we would have heard about it? Look, I
really can't take talking to you right now. I'm sorry but I'll call
you when I feel up to talking," she felt lousy but she was tired of
everyone telling her that he was gone. She knew better. She knew that
he was highly intelligent and was waiting for the right moment when he
could tear her feet out from underneath her. Why couldn't anyone see
that? Was she the only one that was smart enough to know that?

"Look, before you go, I'm just curious. Are you going to winter camp?"
Jack wanted to know if her friend was going to get back on the horse or
shy away, She held her breath for the answer.

Brenda sighed and thought a bout it for a few seconds, "I don't know. I
probably will because it was not the camp that did the harm but rather
a boy. I really don't know but I guess we'll see. Now I'm ready to
go." She heard Jack hang up the phone first and she sank to her knees
where she began to cry.

Two Weeks Later

"Hi is Brenda there?" Beverly inquired as the phone was picked up. Her
and her friends had finally enough of Brenda ranting and she was
calling to say so. She felt guilty for doing so for she loved Brenda
dearly but enough was enough.

"This is her. Is this Beverly?" a familiar voice inquired.

"Of course. Um, I really need to talk to you," Beverly stammered and
squeezed her eyes shut. W as she really going to go through with this?
Brenda had been her friend since junior high and she wasn't sure that
she could just execute the friendship without a glance back.

"Go on ahead," Brenda replied and somehow she knew what was coming. She
knew that all of her friends were tired of insisting that Brady was
waiting but it was true. Why couldn't they see that?

"We all love you dearly, we really do but don't you think you're taking
this Brady thing a little too far?" she asked.

"No! I've told you all before though no one will listen that he is
waiting for the right moment. Why won't you believe me?" the
immediately defensive voice cried into the phone.

"Look, you went through a horrific thing and believe me I know, I was
there. You are expected to fret about it for a little while but for
pete's sake's, you're becoming obsessive. All you think and talk about
is Brady. I was caught and injured by that punk and you don't see me
wasting my every breath worrying about him coming back," Beverly
exclaimed.

"Difference is that he only captured you. He tried to throw me over the
