Ash and waX are not edible but as thin layer on a gourd, people eat it. That is Ash or wax Gourd but Juggernaut renamed Ash Gourd as Ko-Mo to serve in his restaraunt as Ko-Mo curry. | |||
Ash and Wax Subba Rao Ash and wax are not associated with something edible but when it is only a thin coating on a large gourd, people eat it. Call it Ash, Wax or White gourd, it is the same thing, a large oval shaped gourd grows on a vine. Ash or waxes were not appetizing words but the flesh inside the fruit is soft, spongy and mildly sweet to make soft candy sold in daily market as “Petha.” Like any Indian dishes, it can be curried or pickled or boiled to make a soup or blended to make a refreshing drink. Renaming funny named vegetables was self imposed task Juggernaut takes very seriously. On ad hoc basis, Ash or Wax gourd was renamed as “Ko-Mo,” this name is more in harmony with its natural habitat than descriptive Ash or Wax. At a Vegetarian restaurant, on the menu list Ko-Mo curry or stir fry or soup or pickle sounds appetizing than Curried Ash or Wax gourd. Tweet
