Tied To The Mast (standard:poetry, 116 words)
Author: Reid LaurenceAdded: Aug 02 2011Views/Reads: 2381/3Story vote: 0.00 (0 votes)
Writing through some tough times in my life... metaphorically put, I've heard the song of the sirens.

Don't listen to the song

They'll have you thinking wrong

Just go your way

And never say

You gave in to the throng

I lift my pen to write

But cannot stand the sight

The words a mess

I did my best

But can't tell right from wrong

The thing that I must do

Is ask you to be true

And tie me to

In every hue

The mast I must pursue

Now turn my head away

And let the music play

I do not care

I told you where

I've nothing left to say

I've written much the time

Through sirens shrieking rhyme

Reprove me if

I break these bonds

That hold me so entwine
