This may not make any sense unless you understand the rhythm of the poem. You know how a clock will chime ever hour? That is the questions in this poem. The "answers" are the endless seconds of waiting for the chime.

The Chiming of Love's Clock

Why do I look for you around each curve?

Why do I see you everywhere I turn?

I close my eyes and you're behind the lids.

When you leave me, I patiently await your return.

I talk, or smile, all day it doesn't seem to help.

For your kiss my lips will always yearn.

There are times when I smell your scent.

For your touch my skin tingles and burns.

Your body is a oasis, a wonderland.

Every scar I want to memorize and learn.

~

Why can't time stand still?

Why must we always part?

I like to be calm and cool.

Show the world I'm colorful and smart.

Only you understand, with your inner eye,

how far that is off the mark.

A thousand times during the day you're in my head.

A million times you're in my heart.

Times where I miss you so much my soul feels empty.

At your voice, my body stops and starts.

~

Why can't I be happy with what I have?

Why must I always long for more?

I've been presented a treasure to embrace.

Handed something never offered before.

Often times I find myself at a loss.

Experience emotions I don't know how to explore.

With every gentle breeze I feel your love.

In the arms of a turtle I am adored.

Bestowed with the gift of butterfly wings

I now have the power to soar.

~

Why can't we move on?

Why does it have to end?

With every lesson life has taught me

there's one thing I finally comprehend.

Time, like love, will never cease.

By the right person, a broken heart does mend.

Romance won't blossom between two strangers.

For it's more than your hand you have to extend.

To create true, unconditional, love

you have to begin, first, as friends.
