Lost in War Chapter Four There is still hope I could feel the soft warm air brisk across my body as I lay in the beautiful meadow. I opened my eyes slowly and a burst of bright white light came flashing into my eyes slowly drifting away as I kept them open. There wasn't a cloud in sight, only clear blue skies and a big bright sun hanging in the sky. I slowly pulled myself up to a sit and looked around to notice nothing but silence. “The sweet sound of silence, sometimes the noise of silence can calm the wildest of minds.” her voice echoed through my head. I brought myself to a stand stretching out my limbs and feeling my joints pop dropping pounds of pressure from my soul. The sight of the village in the distance brought fear to my heart once again. Those monsters have taken everything from me. Turning around I looked into the woods and wondered when I would see the light at the end of my tunnel. I started to venture into the woods following a path deep inside, maybe I would find some kind of village. I need to stop somewhere to plan on what I'm going to do next in this fight. The woods was quiet, I could hear for miles, the sound of the leaves and twigs beneath my feet was loud. I tried to slow down to soften my steps and silence the noise, nothing seemed to work. I pushed the branches aside as I walked getting whipped in the back of the head from time to time. I had no equipment, I lost it all in the lake, never thought of holding onto anything while I was dying, I'm sure I wasn't the only one that's done that. Is this path ever going to come to an end? I thought to myself as I pressed on pushing more and more branches away. I stumbled across a little clearing in the pathway and decided to take a sit for a while, kicked my feet out and leaned up against a tree, folding my hands behind my head I looked up into the top of the trees, I couldn't see the sky but I could tell it was getting dark. I felt around in my pocket to discover I had a pocket knife, Wow, look at that I managed to hold onto something. I took it out and couldn't open it because of rust. I threw it out of frustration and shut my eyes for a moment. Just then I heard a rustle in the buses behind me, I jumped up and spun around and stared at the bush. For moments nothing happened, I backed away quietly and started to walk down my path again in hoping whatever it was, left me alone. When I felt it was save again to ignore it I turned around and continued walking. I kept getting the feeling that something was watching me, I kept looking around to ease my paranoia. It was getting cold, I didn't have a coat, figures, so I had to suck it up until I could find some place to stay in for the night. I had jeans on, that had some tears in the legs, nothing big, but enough to get some cold air into. I had a long sleeve shirt on that had holes on the left elbow. And a tear in the left side, of course, letting much cold air into. I heard another rustle from the woods to my right, I whipped around and looked in to see nothing but trees and bushes standing still. Something is following me, and doesn't want to be seen, I slowly crept to my left continuing down the path looking around making sure nothing sneaks up on me. Again, when I thought it was save a turned back and kept walking, just as I turned around I could hear the sound of running feet charging up the path behind me. My hear dropped, I realized that either they was more than one, or it had four legs. I swung around and before I could have time to react a furry four legged creature leaped onto me claws digging into my chest ripping my shirt more. I dropping to the ground kicking and pushing it off of me, it barked and snarled and snapped at my face, I kept trying to keep its jaws away and kicking it off of me. Its hind legs were digging into my sides while its front legs tore at my chest. My left hand slipped and the wolf's jaws clamped down onto my left shoulder tearing at my flesh. I screamed in pain as blood splattered all over my shirt, My legs were torn apart and my sides and chest bled profusely, I managed to pry its mouth off my shoulder, adrenaline surging through my body I let out a terrifying yell as I lashed back and forth trying to keep the beast from tearing at my body. I slammed my right fist into the ribs of the animal and it let out a yelp, giving out some of its strength, I swung up and out from the wolf and gave it a swift kick again to the rips. Yelping again it attacked my legs biting as hard as it could bringing me down to my knees, I grabbed the back of its neck and cupped my left hand on its throat and squeezed as hard as I could and cranked my arms as if I was trying to move a building. I heard the wolfs neck snap, and it flopped to the ground mouth open, eyes opened wide, and me bleed all over. Gasping I stood up trying to keep my balance, reaching for a nearby tree. I have to get out of these woods, I stumbled forward pressing harder and harder determined to get out. I Click here to read the rest of this story (138 more lines)
