Another challenge poem, this time from The Library on Multiply. Written from the perspective of a 12 year-old girl. Split Aparts are soul mates who have been "split apart." | |||
Split Aparts I sit in limbo, the trailer asleep, at the window. Mind in turmoil, gazing up at a star, pray for a miracle to take me far. Life hasn't been good. Merely misery and pain. My spirit is broken. My heart an open drain. ~ Glancing down I see a turtle, leaving its shell, coming toward me. "Little one," its voice inside my head, "you're too young to see what real romance is. Why do you plead so hard for things you can't understand? Let down your guard to find the truth you're seeking. Only then can you hear your heart speaking." ~ "Mr. Turtle," I proclaim loudly. "Time is on my side." Poking out my chest proudly, with the maturity of twelve, I state. "I know where true love lives. I simply need to find him. He has eyes and hair of brown, won't catch him acting on a whim. His heart and soul are made of gold. He's not tall and built just right, all for me to love him in return and hold in an embrace oh so tight." ~ Click here to read the rest of this story (251 more lines)
