"The Easter Basket" is a short story for kids about a boy who finds a basket in a field. He takes it home and his mother makes it an Easter basket for her grandfather in the hospital. | |||
Once upon a time, a wooden basket was left in a field. It sat there for a long time. It sat through summer, fall, winter, spring, and summer, fall, winter. . . until. . . One spring day, a little boy found the wooden basket. He brought it home to his mother. She looked at it, and looked at it, and looked at it. She picked it up, put it down, and then put six colorful eggs with a large white stuffed bunny in the basket. The mother and her son took the basket to a massive building. They set it down in a big dark room. "Rest now, Grandpa," said Mother, brushing her grandfather's gray hair, "Happy Easter." The next morning, the old man woke up and saw the basket with the bunny and eggs. "I wonder who. . . " he said to himself. He smiled. "I guess it's a mystery." Tweet
