Leo and Stu go to Benny's house to break some bad news. | |||
Click here to read the first 75 lines of the story large living room. Leo could see Stu taking it all in, he wasn't used to such affluence. Eva poured herself a large whiskey and sat down. Her kimono fell open and Leo couldn't help notice her nice tan legs, she must work out when she's not drinking he thought. Stu was staring and Leo coughed. “We're here about Jasmine” he said. “What's the little brat done now?” slurred Eva. Leo looked at her coldly and decided not to beat around the bush.”She's dead” he said. “Ha, looks like her lifestyle finally caught up with her” Eva said before taking a slug of whiskey. “I told Benny he was being too soft on her but he just kept on giving her money and letting her stay out all night.” Leo was not often stuck for words but he couldn't believe her callousness. Then it dawned on him. “I take it Jasmine wasn't your daughter then?” he asked. “No way, you think I'd wreck this body for some kid who'd just break your heart?” Eva sneered. Leo stood up, they were wasting their time here while she was this drunk. “We'll show ourselves out” he said, beckoning for Stu to leave also. As they left they could hear Eva start to sing. “She's some crazy lady” Stu said “what's she singing now?” “Edith Piaf” Leo said automatically. He slammed the front door hard on the way out, the frustration building up inside him, he was like a kettle on the boil, but the problem with Leo was that no-one ever turned him off. Tweet
