I was told, when I sent this to someone for a review, it was depressing. I explain why it's NOT at the top of the page. You read it and give me your interruption of it. | |||
This poem is about a woman who would rather live in the fantasy of her dreams because they don't hurt as much as reality does. In reality, she's made a decision to be "just friends" with the person she loves. So, to do that, she has to live in a pretend world where their love flourishes instead of it dying a slow death. In fantasy, he will always be hers and hers alone. In reality, he belongs with another. She needs the pretend to get through the real. It's the only way she can be friends with him. In dreams she'll be his lover and his adored one, she can feel the love they share, and be happy. In the real world she has to let him go on to better things. THAT'S what this poem is about. So, it's NOT depressing. It's life. The only kind she knows how to live. ~ Illogically Disorganized ~ I don't know anymore. I'm simply adrift and hopelessly misplaced. I've mislaid the bloody compass. Can't detect my direction home. ~ Don't see the incandescence, surrounded by self imposed darkness, wrapped in chains of debauchery. ~ I long for emotional detachment. So weary of merely existing. Have an inclination to vehemently shout. ~ Life surely isn't meant to be easy. I acknowledge that. But why do we make it so blasted difficult? Screw this! Give me the illusion of existence. I prefer to dwell in my head anyway. © March 19, 2008 by Lori Tweet
