The Fairytale Ending (standard:other, 802 words)

This is just a very cheesy story about how a girl finds herself.

Once upon a time, there was this gorgeous brunette. She had all the guys
looking at her. Everyone noticed her beauty. Everyone but herself. She
thought of herself as an ugly duckling; the brown spot on a bright, red
apple.

Everyone had just grown accustomed to her not acknowledging their
compliments. She just brushed it off as if they were saying it to be
mean. The only thing is, that on this particular day in history, who
would have know that Kendra's way of thinking would soon change.

It was a boring Friday evening in the normal life of a woman named
Kendra. See, Kendra doesn't have a lot of outside activities to attend
to. School and home were the two main places she was to be found.
Kendra went to school and then she went home. That was her daily
routine. On this Friday evening, Kendra was left alone in her home. She
was by herself with mothing to do but listen to music and play on the
computer.

It was around eight o'clock on this evening, and Kendra was just typing
away and listening to her playlist on the computer, when the door flew
open. No one was there, but a breeze brought an envelope with it. The
envelope dropped at Kendra's feet. It was addressed to her and
everything. She was nervous, but she picked up the envelope.

No return address; not even her address. Just her name written in very
ornate style. Cursive yes, but still ornate.

As Kendra reached in the desk drawer for the letter opener, she could
feel her heart beating faster and faster. It felt like it was going to
explode. As she took out the letter, she could feel a sense of calmness
flow over her.

Inside, the letter was in the same ornate handwriting as the one that
had written her name on the envelope. She unfolded the letter and began
to read.

"Dear Kendra,

You do not take enough pride in yourself as a very attractive young
woman. You think all of these people are lying to you when they tell
you that you are very pretty or that you look stunning in your choosen
outfit for that day.

Truth is, you ARE very attractive. Your eyes are gorgeous, your smile
lights up the room, and you are capable of so much. Let yourself accept
these compliments."

Kendra stopped reading and took a Kleenex from the box to wipe her tears
away. Someone had cared enough about her to send her this letter. But
who? She had to find out, so she continued to read.

"This letter is written with hopes that you take it to heart. Allow
yourself to feel something other than anger towards the world and hate
towards yourself. Love yourself with every fiber in your being and
others will love you back. Give them the chance to. You tend to push
people away from you. Stop!! Let someone close to you. Let someone hold
your hand and help you through. You cannot rely on yourself for
everything. There are wonderful caring people around you everyday. You
just have to give them the chance to get to know you.

I wish I could show you the compassion you have shown for me throughout
these years we have known each other, but you don't allow it. You just
shove me away and lay another brick on that gigantic wall you are
surrounding yourself with.

I want to tell you that you won't feel pain if you knock your wall down,
but that would mean lying to you. I can't do that. But, what I can do
is tell you that feeling heartache is normal. Yes, it may hurt for a
while, but it gets better. And, that pain allows you to grow as a
person.

I will end this letter with telling you that you are beautiful. You are
stunning, intelligent, and extremely talented. Let your light shine
through.

Allow people to see the real Kendra we all know is hiding down in there.

Start chipping away at the bricks you have layed for so many uncounted
years.

With your best interst at heart and hope to see you change for the
better.

Your Unnamed Friend"

Kendra cried herself to sleep that night. Someone had taken the time to
write her such a thoughtful and heartfelt letter. And then, on top of
it all, they didn't even tell her who they were.

Over the next few weeks, people noticed a change in Kendra. She seemed
happier and more full of life. She had finally accepted the fact that
she was a picturesque woman. When people complimented her, she thanked
them, and let the warm feeling she got sweep over her. She finally
began to enjoy life as it was.
