This story is about two young girls who find themselves being chased by a killer. | |||
CHAPTER ONE It all started on that one, rainy, Friday evening in August. My best friend, Caitlin, was coming over to spend the night. We had numerous things planned. We were going to watch some scary movies, do a puzzle, play truth or dare, and make a lot of milkshakes. Banana is our specialty. My name is Reese by the way. Caitlin and I are both fifteen years old. We go to the same high school and have went to school together our whole life. I call Caitlin Cait. And she calls me Ree. I only let her call me Ree because it is just annoying when anyone else does it. The door bell rang. I knew it had to be Caitlin because nobody would come for my parents since they were out of town. I ran to the door, opened it up, and there stood Caitlin and her mom. “Hey, Mrs. Carp ” I said. “Hello, Reese. Now you two be safe and have a nice night. I hear it's supposed to storm like crazy tonight so call me if you need anything. Bye, girls.” Said Mrs. Carp. Cait and I yelled bye as we closed the door. “Is it really supposed to storm?” I asked Cait. “Yeah. Weather guy said possible tornados, large hail, whole lot of lightning, and that it'll rain like there's no tomorrow.” Caitlin said as we were walking to my room. Between me and you, I'm scared of storms. It creeps me out. Of course I didn't want Cait to know that. Even though she will. “So do you want to make some banana milkshakes now or do the puzzle first?” Asked Cait as she took off her coat. “Milkshakes of course ” I screamed out. Caitlin laughed and followed me into the kitchen. We got out everything we needed. After it was made we added a few real bananas. They were delicious. We sat down at the table to begin the puzzle with our milkshakes in our hands. Boom A lightning bolt must've hit with a mile. I got scared. I tried not to show any sign but Cait could tell I was worried. “Ree? You okay?” Cait asked me. “Yeah. Yeah. I'll be fine. Just shook me up for a second, that's all.” I stammered to say. Crack Another one It must've hit a tree in the backyard. I stood up and said, “Let's go watch TV to make sure there's no warnings or anything.” That's when it happened. At this point we could've done two things: Call Cait's mom or go into the basement to investigate. The power went off in the house. Total darkness. Of course I looked at our neighbor's house and noticed they had their power. As a matter of fact, all of our neighbor's did. I told Cait how frightened I was and that we should call her mom. Of course, Cait wanted to investigate. We opened up the basement door. We slowly climbed down the stairs. I made sure not to panic too much. When we go to the bottom, the lights suddenly came back on. Whew, that was close. Cait asked me where we kept our flashlights. I led her to the back room in the basement. One of the scariest places you'd ever see. It's in complete darkness, except for the one, dim light in the center. I went over to a box by the door and grabbed them all trying them out. Only two worked. I gave Cait one and kept one for myself. Now we were ready if it went out again. Caitlin went out of the back room first, then I did. I turned around, and closed the door tightly. I pushed and pulled on it to make sure it was securely closed. Then the phone rang. Caitlin came back down the steps, and stood by me as I answered the phone.
