Words for a day that trickled away... | |||
A liquid Wednesday slithers ashore, above flat, inexhaustible waves. Cliffs are absorbed, a house surrenders its charm, and tree tops disappear. Nothing exists; I am in the presence of the white Goddess. I walk the shore, only to see my footprints, freshly trod, swallowed from the sand. I came from nowhere, or I came from the ocean, into a liquid Wednesday. January huddles people together, deep and warm, even before February. Then, with the coming of May, people move away. Imperceptibly so, eluding the grasp of other people. By August, delinquent gatherings disperse, while September brings on a timeless world. December, with all its clutter, lit candles on the staircase, lovesick songs, tragic plays, and religious whistling forces me to open up my diary at pages x,y, z. What the world knows of me is not what you know. What the world feels about me is not what you feel. It's just a liquid Wednesday, trickling down the page, and gone. Tweet
