The cruelty of family's love can make or break you. | |||
Swimming in the shadows that blanket my mind Torrid whispers of affairs of the imagination Haunting the screams that are silent in my throat Kept like caged butterflies in glass bottles That break into a thousand pieces Piercing shards of fractured glass That cut my feet into bloodied ribbons Leading red footsteps to the cave of wonders Where death lingers in his emptiness Offering the truth that has no base in reality Yet I welcome that kiss that drowns my thoughts And leaves me curled in a fetal ball Sobbing for the mother that hurt most of all Giving birth to me, she grasped a future for us both Where anger and grudges held strong And broke the sanity that held the world In a delicate embrace that could shatter With a single, painful uttered word. I can never forget, never forgive The madness that was planted in my mind A seed that grew into a choking vine. Love is strong, it never dies Yet love can kill all that thrives With the brutality of caring and smothering Punished for being the one that I was The rage will live forevermore Encased in my glass looking ball Where I see my shadows dancing in a masquerade A charade, my truth and my lies My damnation, my salvation... dashed.
