Seems as if the painful memories of the past always have a way of barging in. | |||
Memories as crisp as newspapers trampled in the gutters Leak through the holes that once were mended now reopened Seems like only yesterday, I worked so hard to patch them up To lock them with loaded key and chain, yet here they are today Begging me to suffer through the murky waters that have become my brain The pain and sorrow they begrieve me has only begun The ghosts of my former selfs teasing the back of my head With their whispers of hell reborn in my memories awoken I've spent so long, trying so hard to hide this side of me Where pain, regret, and despair all thrive, Croutching hungrily in the darkness, waiting for their moment to rise Bleak horizons loom in my vision, it's going to be one of those days Where I desperately retrieve the smiles of yesterday To try to seal the frowns of today.
