I didn't want to jump. I knew I would die. I was compelled to listen, as I watched his lips move. His eyes sparkled, and his voice was soft. If he wanted me dead, he could have just pushed me. Why would he lie? There was no need to pretend. He promised to join me. He said, we would be together for eternity. Blissful, he said. I wanted the promise. I needed to believe, so I jumped head first. I fought my way back to the top. I called his name, and waited for an answer, but the sweet sound of his voice never made it to my ears. His eyes turned cold and his lips curled and smiled. My heart danced, and I stretched out my arms. I thought he was moving towards me, but he turned and walked away. The water covered my head, and I sank deeper and deeper into the sea of death. I didn't fight to say a float. I embraced my demise. The water didn't kill me. I choked to death on trust. Tweet
