Softer Than A Thousand Screams (standard:poetry, 156 words)

Poem from the darker period in my life when I felt like I was dying inside.

The door is locked, the lights are off All is quiet in the muted
darkness All is quiet but my soul which screams again and again I am
trapped within my own mind A glass cage that allows nothing in This is
when it all comes out, in the shadows, in the sins I've prayed
forgiveness upon my own part Asked myself to forget my wrongs But they
torment me ceaslessly, without an end I guess that's what I deserve
Blinded by my own self hate What joy can I celebrate? Cut off by my
senseless self torture Leaving me in the blackness consumed within I
scream for help, but it's a silent plea One that doesn't even seem to
come from me For no one hears it, no one but me The door is locked, the
lights are off. All is quiet in the muted darkness. All is quiet but
the agony burning within me.
