I may be running< But I will one day fight and I will not be defeated.

RUNNING

I hadn't eaten in days or slept for 2 nights, which was my condition
when it happened. It seemed so peaceful when it started, clouds were
out but I didn't think much of it. I never could have guessed what
would happen that day. It would stay with me as one of the most
frightful adventures of my life. It had just started to rain. I was
going through the mountains then. I looked for shelter but when I did
not find any I didn't care, it was only a rain shower. Then later it
started to hail. I search for shelter again but to no avail. It was
cold pounding hail. Then came the lightning, I tried to move on then.
I raced to find shelter; a cave, a overhanging, a house, a tree,
anything. I found a tree but it was too small.

First I heard it, and then I saw it. I knew it was here for me. It
loomed dark and powerful, scattering everything in its path. The roar
drowned out everything. I had been targeted. I panicked, ran up the
cliff and I saw a glimpse of hope. A cave. A lighted cave. I surveyed
my surroundings. I could make it! I ran like I never have before
towards it. The thought of warmth, food and sleep kept me going but
the roar behind me seemed omnipotent. It was coming. It was coming. I
tried to outrun it, but hunger and fatigue kept me slow. The hail
pounded my back and I knew it was getting closer. I ran but the
coldness was powerful against my starvation. I had to fight it. I had
to try. I thought to myself I won't go down without a fight, then the
ground seemed to sweep away and I thought wow I'm hallucinating now, I
must have a fever. Then it seemed as though sand was stinging my
sides. I looked and saw rocks bouncing off them. Near to me I saw a
tree fly by. The fever must be worse than I thought. Then I realized
I was not hallucinating. It had me. A tree rooted to the ground was
going by. I bit a limb and tried to grab on with my legs. It seemed
like an hour but it was only a minute. The force that tried to kill me
left, followed by the roar. I thought I have won! I dropped to the
ground. I saw the light of the cave a short distance away. I started to
walk towards it. Then that powerful sound returned. It was coming
back around. I tried to run but my leg was injured. It was getting
closer. I thought oh no, I'm going to di-.... Something grabbed me I
saw a shape. I blacked out.

I woke up in that cave. A young man stood over me. He said “You almost
didn't make it. I saw you and brought you in”. I was confused but
glad. In an odd way we became friends. I stayed the next week. I had
found a home with Samuel. I have to go now, Samuel wants to play
fetch.

Sincerely, Luke the Wolf
