Hidden Pain I used to have a mask. Bright colored, composed of happy thoughts and peaceful memories. Smiles that stretched to great lengths to make others forget And eyes with no pain behind them. Just blue oceans with no rough waters. I seldom wore it- A hot tuesday in July; a much colder one in December. A humid 11th that will resound in my mind as the day it all ended, only to begin. Again. It wasn't till a year later that it fell off. I tried to put it back on, but it wouldn't fit. I went to it for help, but it was useless. So, I've packed it away to that place in the corner of your mind. You go to it to relive and remember; live and learn. That place where, when visited, isn't the pain it once was, But a beautiful collection of what you once were And who you've become because of it. January 13,2001 6:15 Tweet
