A poem I wrote for my dad a couple of months ago. | |||
A little girl and her daddy; dancin' to a lullaby She says 'Daddy, how I love you.' and a tear falls from his eye. And she says Daddy, please don't cry, Daddy, Oh, it's true, Daddy you're my hero, Daddy, I love you. The little girl grew older; but her daddy still remained the hero that she ran to for comfort from her pain. And like he had when she was small; he'd play that lullaby; and as they danced around the room again she'd see him start to cry. And she said Daddy, please don't cry, Daddy, Oh it's true, Dad, you're still my hero, Daddy, I love you. Many years went by and her daddy's strength grew small; and as she came close to the bed, she could see the tears start to fall as one more time she played that old lullaby, she leaned down close... and as they hugged she started to cry. And once more she said Daddy please don't cry, Daddy, it's so true, you've always been my hero, Daddy, I love you. -Jenni Smith 11/3/00 Tweet
