| a poem about charlie barnett who died last year from cancer | |||
Moonlight, silver light on my black face Mixes with the metal Tangles with the steel My smooth bald head I-V bottle sparkles I marvel at the sky in between vomiting I marvel because of the sky's enormity And how small I am In the steel chair I recall once that I was bigger A giant An oddity Before such belongings as germs Worms and poisonous things How quickly life went by The blur of landscapes Speeding past and I dare not touch With a shaking finger I count a billion stars Before the medicine puts me momentarily Out of the pain.
