The Lord of Dreams (standard:poetry, 140 words)
Author: HAdded: Nov 21 2003Views/Reads: 2959/0Story vote: 0.00 (0 votes)
A poem largely inspired by Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" novels (though those unfamiliar with the series can also enjoy it).

The Lord of Dreams

Now the world has gone to sleep.

The shadow lands await its dreams.

That realm's dark lord awaits its coming,

In the darkness and the deep.

Now the world is black with night.

The minds of man bid light farewell,

Enter the realm of sleep and myth,

In a world bereft of light.

Now all can hear the gentle music,

As their minds near the shadow lands.

They can hear the dark lord singing,

As on the edge of myth he stands.

The lord of dreams awaits their coming,

Waits to touch their sleeping minds.

The lord of dreams is singing softly,

Though what he dreams, no hearer finds.

Now the world is in its bed.

The lord of dreams enters its head.

By him its dreaming will be led.

Surrender to the lord of dreams.
