prose poem really of which am not quite sure the meaning except it still holds me when i read it. | |||
RUNNING When the man started running, there was no catching him. But how can you catch a man who is running for his life? There is no catching such a man. He runs with all the strength of his life in him. Even as you chase closely behind leading him into the darkness of the mattoke plantation. It is night and there is little of the moon. It is dark and he is afraid. He breathes and you can hear his panting so clearly, huh, huh, huh, it goes. You know he is tired. The blood boils in your veins until it is hot like boiling water and you are excited and it is a thrill. You come upon him and he cowers before you and there is no moon and it is dark and there is silence and you know you are going to kill him. And you are so excited. Kill! Kill! Your blood screams. You are hard and soft and killing is not hard at all. Tweet
