She is his only way out of his insanity. | |||
I Find No Peace I find no peace and all my war is done I fear and hope; I bum and freeze like ice, I fly above the wind, yet I cannot arise, And naught I have and all the world I seize on That looseth nor locketh holdeth me in prison, And holdeth me not live yet can I'scape nowise; Nor letteth me live nor die at my devise And yet death it giveth none occasion. Without eyen I see; and without tongue I plain; I desire to perish, and yet I ask for health; I love another, and thus hate myself: I feed me in sorrow, and laugh in all my pain. Likewise displeasth me both death and life, And my delight is causer of strife. --Sir Thomas Wyatt Passion has thrown the speaker into disorder. He becomes all things at once, all feeding at once, hoping and fearing; blind and seeing, tongueless yet full of words. He has ceased to fight and yet he can find no peace. He wants to die; yet he prays for health. Love brings him laughter and pain, joy and sorrow. He burns with passion and freezes like ice. The woman that he loves so intensely has thrown his spirits into turmoil and there seems to be no possibility for an escape-an escape he does not really desire anyway. PROLOGUE He turned off the highway slowing down on the off-ramp to make the turn for the side road. He made a right turn onto the side road and turned off his headlights. Slowly rolling down the curved road in almost total darkness, He turns the steering wheel to the right, just enough to leave the pavement onto a dirt area, which was frequently used as an unofficial rest spot for weary travelers and rolled to a stop. Alone in the darkness, he turned off the ignition. Sitting in silence, he removed the cover off the dome light placing it on the dashboard. He carefully removed the bulb to prevent the light from coming on when any of the doors of the vehicle opened. He was being careful not to draw attention to himself. He slowly put on his black leather gloves and a black ski mask. Quietly opening his door, he calmly, carefully, and coolly got out of his car. He carefully surveyed the area. He picked the perfect placed to finish his task. No one would bother looking here for what he was about to place. Feeling confident that he was alone, he slowly pushed the door closed without making a noise. It was very dark. The moon, that was full, was now beginning to be covered by the clouds that were approaching. Rain was in the air he could feel it. The only lights that could be seen were from the few homes that were in the distance. It was almost too quiet. The only sounds that disturbed the night was the rhythmic chorus of chirping by the crickets and loudening noise from the highway of approaching vehicles and then fading once they passed the area. The night was colder that normal in early May. A gentle breeze slowly moved the branches of the row of trees that started by the highway and continued just passed the area. Between the trees, there were lush big bushes filling in the gaps that did a great job of concealing the location from the highway. Feeling quite, please that he had found the perfect spot and that no one was around, he carefully looked around making one more check. The sound of his shoes walking on the gravel momentarily bothered the crickets but soon they were back with their symphony of chirps and clicks. He quietly opened the rear passenger's door. The lifeless body of a woman was quietly removed from the back seat. Once her body was clear of the door, he pushed it slowly until the door click shut. He carried the body from vehicle to just inside the tree line. He picked that location to lay her down on the thick, soft, green grass under the tree. In his mind, he was playing a game and making his opponent work harder to find her this gave him enjoyment and satisfaction. He proceeded with his sick routine by preparing his victim in the way he like her, with her arms folded across her chess and stuffed in her hands was a white rose. He kneeled down and brushed the hair off her pretty face. "Fair well and sweet dreams my angel." He kissed his two fingers and pressed them to her lips to giver her a kiss goodbye. He got up and started to walk back to his vehicle. He smiled a cocky little smile thinking how well it went and clearing all his thoughts of her because as far as he 'was concerned he was done with her. But his feelings of just completing a job well done were suddenly broken with the sounds of Click here to read the rest of this story (399 more lines)
