Daddy, I'm an adult now, aren't you proud? You can tell your work buddies in a crowd How your daughter followed in your footsteps, How she studied the end of engineering's depths; Tell them about her new knowledge and skill, The evident potential and her strength of will. --- Will you brag because I lost a dream? Gave up on art for which I loved too keen? But it was worth it, now look at me! I have facts galore, all triviality! I know circuitry, and programming, I know not who I am, but what I'll be. --- You paved the road to my future, But I tread it with a face neutral. And essentially there's none to blame But me, not thee who gave me life and name. And now I live, with nothing in your daughter's head, Thinking of the path that was I was never meant to tread. Tweet
