A new foe apears from the union side, and proves his worth. And what does Jeff already know about the X-factor? New battles wage and new feelings show.

Chapter 3.0

Karen pushed her mech foward again, firing rockets into the ship's
docking bay. Fires broke out, and people scrambled. Gun turrets still
blazing, all the while one ship didn't fire.

"I'm quite impressed by these rebels. They aren't even Confederate
troops, yet they still risk their lives to save a Confederate station.
Brave, but foolish." the man said. His office was dark and his face
hidden by shadows. he smiled a smile that would have scared anyone to
death. All that could be seen was that smile. A white grin in the
consuming darkness.

"Yes, I agree. But they make such terrible choices." another man said.
He stood outside the safety of the shadows. His hair was short and
brown, he had dark green eyes, and the face of a pilot.

"Very good observation my good man. I want you to kill them, kill every
last one of those confederate bastards." the shadow man said. "Go on,
Dylan, do your job."

"Yes sir," Dylan replied "but what of the ones not here? What about
them?"

"No need to worry, we'll kill them next."

************************

Karen's mech floated there in space, watching the last ship. Her crew
still fought the other battleships, but she just watched that one. Her
eyes fixated on her long range scanners, ears listening for the beeping
sound of a hostile mech on the radar, her hands gently placed around
the joysticks for the arms, and her feet resting on the foot pedals.
She watched as the bay door opened on the ship, and then all her
sensors went wild. Her radar picked up a mech, her long range scanners
locked in on it, everything focused on that one mech. She gripped her
controls and pressed her mech foward at her foe. A lone mech flew at
her, no backup mechs or defensive fire from the ship. They both pulled
out their best close combat weapon. A sword, but not any regular sword.
The blade was made of compressed energy particles that were so strong
they could cut right through a ship and keep going.

The Union mech pulled out it's saiber and flew full speed at Karen, she
too was ready with saiber and shield. They headed at each other, full
speed, nothing to stop them.

Alisa looked over to her left, all she could see was the bright blue of
the two mechs' boosters. They were moving so fast, it was almost
unhuman. Few pilots, Karen included, could handle a mech at those
speeds. Even though they were in space, there was a chance that the
mobile unit could rip right open and kill the pilot.

Karen's saiber thrusted foward, but her opponent jetted to the side. Or
what was thought to be the side. Nobody had any real perception of up,
down, left, right. They could only tell forwards and backwards by the
G-forces pushing them into their chairs, or pulling them at the control
panel. Direction's didn't really mean anything here. The only thing
that mattered to Karen, and Dylan, was that the other one die. Their
weapons clashed in brilliant flashes of light that lasted for hardly a
second in space. Neither of them even came remotely close to breaking a
sweat, this was hardly a workout for them. Even though they were
pushing their mechs to incredible limits, but they didn't match the
limits of a pilot under the influence of the X-factor. The weapons met
and departed. Both the pilots were strong, they were equally matched to
each other.

Dylan waited for his foe to make their next move. But before they could
a face appeared on his screen.

"Good enough, Dylan. Come home. It's not worth getting you killed." the
shadow man said.

"But sir! I can finish them off!" Dylan shouted.

"No," the man said "come home. You are both on the same level. And I
