Joyce has mixed emotions over the school when she is warmly greeted by a storm boy and some of the fire people but makes a swift enemy of another fire girl.

Joyce watched Karla walk down the hall, looking upset and lost. She
looked at the frightening white Tokatekan woman at the door and felt
the urge to cry again.

“I repeat, what is your name and group of people? You are holding up
the line,” the woman was not in the least friendly.

“I am Joyce Flames and I am a fire girl,” she answered, her bottom lip
quivering. She hadn't wanted to leave home, not even to go to
Tokateka, and now she knew, she could never go back. She wasn't even
going to have Karla to help her deal with everything.

“You are in the FireHouse, if you get lost, ask the fairy lights,” the
woman instructed and turned to the boy behind her. She gripped her
medicine cabinet close to her and began wandering down a hallway
opposite of Karla. She was frightened and had never felt so alone.
She gazed at one of the light's to soothe her nerves when someone
smacked full force into her from behind. She dropped her cabinet on
the ground with a loud bang.

“Oh jee whiz am I sorry,” a deep voice cried out. She bent down to pick
up her cabinet with no comment and came face to face with a gorgeous
boy. He was obviously a storm person for he looked just like the
princess, Orca.

“I'm kind of lost and wasn't paying attention. I'm really sorry,” he
grinned and blushed a becoming shade of red.

“It's okay. Are you a first year?” she wanted to know. Like she
couldn't tell!

“Yeah, what year are you?” he inquired.

“I'm a first year too. Um, my name's Joyce Flames and you are?” she was
dying to know so that she would have a name to match that handsome
face.

“Maxton Blizzard, at least I don't feel like such a fool knowing you're
a first year too,” he chuckled.

“Please, don't take this as me hitting on you, well, I kind of am but I
am really curious. Is the whole storm race beautiful or is it just a
choice few?” she blushed but she had to know. Orca Storm had been
incredibly stunning too and then there was him. He was even a first
year, like herself.

“Actually, it's the whole race. Now, I ask the same question of you for
you are the first fire person I have ever met and you take my breath
away,” his lucious grey eyes roamed across her face and she could feel
her skin burning darker red.

“I, I honestly don't know but um, thanks,” she breathed out and wanted
to run but she felt as if she were glued to the spot.

“Do you two have a place to go or are you loitering?” a tall Tokatekan
man suddenly asked.

“Actually, we're lost,” Joyce exclaimed.

“Just ask the fairy lights, they'll tell you what to do,” the man broke
into a toothy grin and even his gums were white.

“Are there really fairies in the lights?” Joyce wanted to know.

“Of course, look really close and you will see an entire family of
fairies living in a full furniture home but you have to really look
close. They're super tiny and can fit about twenty per light bulb.
They're really something else to watch,” the man laughed.

“How fascinating! I want to look,” she stood on her toes and peered
into a bulb. Her eyes could barely distinguish a tiny body amongst one
of the bright white glowing balls.

“Could you tell me which way to the FireHouse?” she inquired in
wonderment. Bright red lights zipped down the hall and were gone
