The tensions build in Brandon's group and Jessica knows that something bad is going on with them, some bad history but no one is talking. Meanwhile, a handsome little "outcast" boy has designs on her, undermining Brandon. | |||
The next day, a girl, named Jocie, invited her to sit with her group. Jessica agreed for they reminded her of her old group. Though, she realized with laughter in her stomach, they were the group that Rhonda had said to stay away from. Oh well, she made the decisions on who she hung out with, not Rhonda or anyone else. She sat with them, expecting a quiet, mediocre meal but they were loud, obnoxious, and completely fun. She immediately hit it off with Joey, a tall, geeky brunette with warm, brown eyes and a welcoming smile. "If you ever get in any trouble here, you tell me and I'll take care of it," he promised and gave her a sly grin. She was smitten with his cute dimples and ownry smirk. He had such a corky and friendly personality, it was hard to not like him. "He's telling the truth," Martha, a short, chubby blonde added, her brown eyes glittering with humor. It was hard to believe how closely intertwined the group was, even though there were only about eight of them, they were more like siblings than friends. She hoped that maybe she would be brought into that group as strong as a sibling, but hopefully not with Joey. He was really quite cute, in an adorable way, and she felt completely comfortable with him. It wasn't like with Brandon who she felt that she needed to keep on her toes with for her own safety. "I believe it cause he already has me believing," Jessica laughed. She had never met such a fun loving group and they swiftly got into a food fight. It started with an innocent passing of the ketchup that got thrown back. Suddenly it was open and ketchup was squirting all over Martha's backpack. In an amused rage she took mayonnaise, and squirted it all over Lucas's shirt. With a cry of supprize his water bottle was pouring out all over Martha, Jessica, and Lewis. That was when the security guard caught wind of what was going on and pounced on them with fire in her eyes. She angrily escorted them out and told that them that they were not welcome back in for a week. Once they were kicked out of the cafeteria, they just stood outside for a few minutes, milling about unsure of what to do. So, they began to play tag. Joey got picked as it and he raced after her. He threw his arms around her, causing them to both to collapse to the ground, where they were giggling hysterically. He discovered that she was ticklish and he held her to the ground where he tickled her until she was crying. Finally he let her go and he helped her up. After she finished brushing the grass off her, she suddenly looked into his dark brown eyes. Something in them drew her close, not with desire but warmness unlike Brandon, and she decided she had a crush on this silly boy. How could she not, he was so sweet and so much fun. "Sorry about that," he apologized and he blushed profusely. She wanted to tease him and pick on him, but she suddenly realized her cheeks were just as red. She looked nervously down at the ground for a moment, trying to figure out what to say. She knew that no matter what she said, she would have no fear of a rude rejection. He wasn't like that, if he wasn't interested, he would let her know gently and it would all be okay but if he was interested, he would be just as flustered as she was. "I didn't mind," she decided. He smiled slyly again and she smiled back. How could she not? She knew right then that he was definitely interested, which was way cool cause he was a much better choice than Brandon. She was about to add on to her flirtatious reply when she saw Joey's eyes narrow into angry slits. She was about to turn around when an all too familiar voice spoke into her ear. "Hi Jessica," Rhonda was at her side without any warning and she looked at Joey with mirth in her eyes, "I see that you found a nice group to hang out with." The way that she said that made Jessica squirm, it carried a lot of disappointment and insult in it. She saw Joey bristle and he seemed as if he had just emotionally withdrawn from her. "Yeah, this is Joey," Jessica felt uncomfortable and wished that Rhonda had not shown up. His eyes kept flicking between the two of them and though he wore no expression except for menace, his eyes held deep hurt as if Jessica had purposefully wounded him. She wanted to tell him that she didn't mean to upset him but then she thought about it. Why should she be apologizing? She could be friends with whoever she felt Click here to read the rest of this story (491 more lines)
