this poem is about facing the memories of an unforgivable act after many years of trying to forget | |||
I don't remember how we met or most of the time we spent together But I'm sure those beautiful blue eyes will haunt me forever I remember the first time I gazed into those eyes of blue I thought I saw all that I would ever need to know If someone would have told me of the danger that hid behind those eyes I would have asked how they could tell such lies He seemed like the perfect guy next door Whose actions always left me wanting more It's weird how my first impression of him could be so off base He waited till I was comfortable with him then showed his true face He went from a friend I grew to trust To a stranger that I now fear the most I can't sleep without seeing him in my nightmares Only to wake up terrified and in tears Remembering the day he took all my hope With the unforgivable act of rape I buried the memories for six years thinking they would fade away Only to realize that they are here to stay Little things remind me of that day but I'm getting stronger I can't let his actions effect my life any longer What he did to me can never be forgotten But if I was to face him those beautiful blue eyes of his will haunt me no longer Tweet
