A poem from the faraway days of my youth!

Summer At Grandma's House

by J P St. Jullian

The old back porch was my favorite spot,

So cool of evenings when days were hot.

It's where we kids gathered when supper was done,

To play games and watch the setting of the sun.

The twilight torch outside would glow from the trees,

Sometimes swaying in the gentle breeze.

And beautifully lit fireflies their lamps all aglow,

Added to our little scene as they darted to and fro.

Grandma would serve us all late lemonade

And delicious cookies all recently made.

Time would pass swiftly in laughter and song

Leaving such happy memories after summer had gone.
