The continuation of the Zorian and Damion story.

I sat up, pushing the cat off the end of my bed. I was drenched in sweat
and breathing heavily. Damien sat looking at me from his desk across
the room. "Bad dreams darlin'?" It was dark out side the sun must have
set long ago. Damien had been looking at some papers on his desk, most
likely some ancient text only he could decipher as he was the only one
who could remember ever having used them. I had never bothered to learn
all the languages we had been forced to use when we were younger, I had
always relied on Damien.

"It is the same dream every time. We are both killed by younger stronger
versions of our selves."

He turned back to his work before saying, "don't worry darlin' we
aren't old yet, still top of the food chain." I sat up throwing the
blanket he had pulled over me onto the floor. I stretched my arms above
my head, releasing the tension that had formed in them.

I disliked the feeling that the dream had left me with; hopless fear.
"Why do I insist on sleeping? I don't have to, I don't need to but then
I always do."

"Habit darlin'. You formed it when you had to hide from the sun and now
that you no longer have to you find that the habit formed back then is
making it almost impossible for you to go against." I stood up and
walked over to him. Looking over his shoulder to see what he was
deciphering.

I wrapped my arms around his neck as I tried to remember what all of
this said. "Well I think I am going to have break this habit, I don't
like it. I don't like the silence, I don't like the darkness and I
don't like the dreams." It had been a long time since I had been forced
to read ancient Syrian and I found that my skills were not what they
had once been.

"Do you remember what that says?" He pointed to a group of symbols, I
recognized a few of them but had no idea what they meant.

"No. Don't you?" He had always had a better grasp on different languages
then I had.

"Well I know some of them like these ones." He pointed out the ones that
I knew. "But then these ones are different." He pointed to a few that I
had never seen before.

"Maybe they are simply some ones hand writing and don't look right." He
rubbed his eyes, he must have been at this for a while.

He began to tap his fingers on the edge of the desk he was sitting at.
"I don't know. They might not even matter."

"What is this about any way?" I leafed threw his notes not fully
understanding what they said.

He smiled. "Oh it is actually about us."

"Really only good I hope." I knew it wouldn't be. Anything written about
the two of us was normally warnings about our evil ways.

"Not good to them any way." I smiled. "I says something to the effect
'that the dark lady and her consort', why I am always called your
consort I don't know, 'are said to be coming this way.'" We had gone to
the Syrian province were they wrote in this way. "'And that in our wake
we leave nothing but pain and destruction.'" I nodded, that was right.
"But here this says something about how 'in the darkness they would
protect themselves' but then it changes to these words that I don't
understand." But there was no way for them to protect themselves from
us, there was no way any one could. Unless the dream was more then a
dream.

I honestly tried to think if I had seen those words before. "So this may
be something important." I had never seen them I finally decided I had
been to busy with other things when we had traveled threw the provinces
to take note of all the writing.

"I think that it is something very important." Of course this was from a
