Description of a state of mind that no one wants to be in. | |||
The battered child turns its big eyes on me Smiles as blood fills his tears Help me he cries, stretching his arm To me as I cringe against the wall, paralysed. ------------------------------------------------- That child is me, crying out for a hero Just like the poetry is me, begging for release The blood pumps through my shattered veins Surely as the poison spreads through my traumatized body. ---------------------------------------------------------- I am drowning in the sea of fate Someone throws me an anchor now and then And it sustains until they lose me Leaving me alone and choking in my dreams of grandeur. -------------------------------------------------------- Strange dreams are these, strange themes Crying children and weeping angels with sores on their faces Their arms bent upwards and their souls lost Pulling me unrelentlessly into their mindless torment. -------------------------------------------------------- I struggle everyday to maintain my dues I walk the streets of no return, under skies that know no sun I pause at the clouded windows and closed doors Shut out, put out, alone, scared. ========================================================== Tweet
