to shine far out in space ... | |||
she gazes down on everyone, with her ever present face that same sad smile we see each night, suspended there in space she casts her light through darkest hour, uplifting those she loves the moon opens her gentle arms, a cradle from above she never complains, she never cries, she never makes a fuss her job, her duty, her only goal, is to watch over each of us the sun shines down upon her, keeping her in her place without that sun she feels that she would never leave a trace she lives in the sun's shadow, without him she is nothing at all “watch over my children” he says to her, and she heeds his every call but even the moon has got her desire, her wish for some re-birth and yet she watches the children alone on mother earth “if only I could be a star” she thinks with some delight “I'd have my own identity, not be his satellite” and yet she stays in orbit, with her ever present face always wishing she was something else – to shine far out in space so, if you look up into the moon and see her smiling from afar just remember in your heart of hearts ... that she really is a star Tweet
