Security by Rene Amador Calmly sitting, arm in arm, on the couch, watching television, her head rests on his shoulder, cutting off the circulation, but it doesn’t matter. Wafts of lavender and jasmine rise from her hair. Her scent saturates his shirtsleeve and leaves a reminder. Sounds from the television can’t be heard, but the movie will be remembered. Looking down on her, sitting next to him, he notes the bend of her leg, the fold of her hand, the curl of her toes and the fit of her shirt. She slumbers, not dreaming, resting her head on his arm. She feels warm and safe although the cold night air howls and rattles the windows. Hands wrapped around his arm she feels the strength coursing through him. She takes that strength and adds to the mix her own strength. This thought makes her feel safe from all harm in the world. Together they stand against all that oppose them without any thought at all.
