To my best friend Michael. I miss you.

So many years ago
I ran away
Quickly
I didn't really know why
But I couldn't wait any longer
You stayed behind

You would always ask me why
All I could say was that I needed to run
Never from you, but from me
Did you miss me I would wonder?

I remember our last conversation
You were too lazy to come to me
I was too stubborn to come to you
You stayed and I left
Again

Sometime later the phone rang
And you were gone
Quickly
What if I had stayed I wondered
Maybe I would have been with you that night
I could have driven home
I should have been there I thought
Maybe
If only
I hadn't run

I miss you so much
I see you in my dreams
Sometimes so real that I can feel you
I want to reach out and hold onto you
But you always go away
And I stay behind
