A poem, keeping death in perspective | |||
PERSPECTIVE DEATH CAN BE SO BORING I DREAD MY FINAL DAY EVERYONE JUST STANDING AROUND NOT KNOWING WHAT TO SAY. HERE I AM, AT PARLOR LOST A FRIEND LAYING IN A COFFFIN KNOWING HE CAN'T TALK BACK TO ME A CONDITION I WISHED FOR OFTEN. NOW I WOULD BEG HIM TO SPEAK OR GET UP, TAKE A WALK NO USE A WISHING WASTE THE MAN CAN'T EVEN TALK. EVERYONE WHO CAME TODAY ALREADY WANT TO LEAVE THEY'RE TRYING TO HIDE IT WELL BUT ME THEY CAN'T DECEIVE. EVEN I, HIS VERY BEST FRIEND WISH THE SERVICE DONE I'M QUICKLY BEING BORED TO DEATH PARDON ME, MY PUN. SO WHEN I DIE I HAVE ARRANGED BURY ME THAT VERY DAY THEY ALWAYS SAY "A BETTER PLACE" SO HURRY ME ON MY WAY. SAVE MY RELATIVES, AND MY FRIENDS ALL THAT STANDING AROUND LET THEM KNOW ABOUT MY DEATH AFTER I'M IN THE GROUND. author, rtpoet volly@webtv.net copyright 1999 Tweet
