The regret and despair of love unfulfilled.

How often have I stood like some forgotten sentinel of time
Upon this radiant shore that I abjure.
I stand forlorn and though they shake me and implore,
I am unmoved, unmovable.
I do endure.

The waves surrender at my feet but they erode and I retreat
Until I find that what I stood upon is gone.
I stand so still and yet I melt inside and cry,
I seem unmoved, unmovable.
I am alone.

This trailing wake describes the path to you I cannot take,
Another boat that I farewell while others sail.
I stand in silence when it comes my turn to speak,
I am unloved, unlovable.
I am to blame.

The tide engulfs the embers of a dream no one remembers
While the coldness of my heart quenches the sun.
I stand defeated by the carnage of your love,
I am defined, definable.
I am undone.
