These are just my thoughts on the Tragedy of September 11. They may not be the views of others, but they are my own. Please read. | |||
When your young, it seems like the world is so peaceful. Hell, it wasnt until about a year ago that I knew the Gulf War happened when I was a child. We are shielded from it. But yet, in the tragic events that have happened, how do we shield young kids from this? When a child that is 8 years old comes up to you in tears and asks you why people hate us, what do you say to them? I know, as a 16 - almost 17 - year old girl, the answer still evades me. As a Junior in Highschool, I still wish I could have crawled up into my mom's lap on September 11, and cried. But as a teenager, I am just supposed to understand that this is what happened. I have heard a lot of adults say that it is time my generation stood up for the country like so many generations have in the past. They keep saying that we have had it so easy, and that now we will see what the other generations have gone through with WW1, WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. You see, the differences between us and those generations is that they had actual countries they are fighting with. We can call this the "American - Afgan War" but it isnt. We are fighting people that don't claim a single country. We have it a lot harder than they did. The person that we are searching for, this madman, has been on the run for longer than we all can comprehend. When he bombed our embassies, we went searching then. We did not find him. When he bombed the USS Cole, we went searching for him. He evaded us once again. What makes the US think that because the crime was harsher this time, it will be easier to find him? I am not saying that I don't think that we will find him. I am not saying that. What I am trying to say is that so many people are going to die that shouldn't. The Taliban, yes. Kill every one of them son of a bitches. But what about the innocent children that will lose mothers and fathers because we decide that we "think" Osama is there. Why can't we send in ground troops to search him out and kill him? On September 12, 2001, I had Cadet Teaching. I help teach a Seventh Grade English Class. We, me and the teacher, decided to talk to the kids. I had 25 little boys screaming, "Lets kill them." when a little girl raised her hand to speak. She said, "All of my life, I have been told that 2 wrongs do not make a right, but for the past day and a half all I have heard from anyone is that we should kill all Arab people. How can anyone be happy when someone is dying?" Let me tell you, there were tears in my eyes. From a child, came words so unique and brave to be spoken, I couldn't believe it. This girl was so brave, and so smart. And she is 12 years old. Not everyone will agree with my opionion, because we did lose so many lives. But not all Afgan people are to blame. I want you to think about something. When you think about Afganistan, think of Germany. When you think of Osama Bin Laden, think of Hitler. When you think of the Taliban, think of the Nazis. And when you think of the Afghan people, think of the Jews. Remember something. We helped the Jews. Tweet
