TWO Zachary O'Reilly leaned over his wife of two years and shook her gently. He hated to wake her, she looked so beautiful and peaceful when she slept, her black hair a silk curtain across her cheek. And since Aaron had been born three months ago, she hadn't been sleeping very much. But Lorelei had insisted he wake her. "C'mon, baby," he whispered in her ear. She moaned and arched her back, her tilted aqua-green eyes opening slowly. When she saw him, her lips parted and she smiled. "Again?" she asked, reaching up and wrapping her long slender arms around his neck. "Oh brother," Lori said loudly. Cody jumped away from her husband guiltily and Zach grinned. "Later," he whispered in her ear. She looked at him and nodded, a flush staining her cheeks. "What is it?" Cody asked, sitting up, pulling the silk sheet with her. Lori stepped in the room and handed Cody her lace nightgown, which was lying beside the balcony door. Cody took the nightgown, then pulled the sheets up higher and wiggled into the gown. "One of our guests is passed out in Art's arms," Lori announced. Cody jumped out of bed, the lace gown falling down around her ankles. "Oh no! Not Mrs. Edwards?" "No, a Ms. Spencer? The one who checked into the honeymoon suite by herself? She was also at old man Ayala's funeral this morning, and crying to boot. Dunno what her story is, but she's got one," Lori tilted her head. "Mak and I think maybe she's the old man's mistress, you know? Like, he must have had ladies on the side." "We all have our stories, Lori. Don't be nosy," Cody chastised her 16-year-old sister gently, tying her long bathrobe closed and stepping out of the bedroom. "Where are they?" she whispered. "On the first floor," Lori whispered back. The house they lived in was a tall narrow house that had been in the family for years. Her grandmother had turned the house into a Bed and Breakfast almost fifteen years ago. The sister's made their way down the two flights of stairs to the first floor, where Art was sitting comfortably on the fat sofa, the woman in his lap, her face resting against his chest. He looked completely content to hold her forever, and Cody hesitated, feeling like an intruder. "It's easy to get cozy with an unconscious woman," Lori said dryly. "It's the other one's that'll kick you in the butt." Art looked up and chuckled softly, running a hand through the unconscious woman's hair. "Can't disagree there, goddess," he said, looking back down at the woman in his arms. "What happened?" Cody asked, stepping forward and putting a hand on Jade's cheek, which had gone pale and cold. "You suppose she's my sleeping beauty and I need to kiss her?" Art pondered hopefully, looking at some of the prettiest lips he had seen in a long time. Lori snorted, crossing her arms across her chest and raising one eyebrow, a look everyone in her family had perfected as infants. Cody simply looked at him, her blue-green eyes questioning.
