I have no idea... | |||
She stood waiting. He was never on time. Shivering a bit, as the nights had gotten colder with every setting of the sun, she moved to sit on the curb under the streetlight. What a good target, she thought, what a perfect target I would make for someone wandering the neighborhood, looking for a quickie. Her thoughts forced her to stare into the darkness around her pool of light, searching for any little movement, listening for any little sound. Nothing. The neighborhood was still. Suddenly, a strong arm wound its way around her waist like a snake. She wanted to scream, but a cold hand clamped over her mouth. She was lifted to her feet, dragged out of her safe-haven of light. She struggled, but the hands would not yield. Muscular arms turned her around to face her attacker, but all she could see of him (no woman could have strength such as this) was the whites of his eyes, that caught the glow of the streetlight and reflected it back to her. Still struggling, she was lifted and carried. She could see the streetlight over the shoulder of her abductor receding, smaller and smaller. She stopped struggling, focusing only on that light, wishing to be back in its safe glow. They turned a corner; the glow was gone. Tweet
