STORY OF A MOTHER AND HER LAST DAY IN THE HOSPITAL.

In The Hospital

I can only see the daylight through the windows.

It's nearing summer time, so I don't even see the nights;

usually I'm sleeping by then. I was waiting for this day.

This was the day that I prayed for through the four days

that I spent here. How I got here, I'll never really

know. One day I was feeling like peaches and cream,

the next day I felt like seeds and milk. I didn't know

that it would take four whole days for me to be free

again. I miss my daughter; hell, I even miss my son in

law. He's a strange guy, but I know he'll take care of

my baby. My cat's, oh, my poor old cat's, who's taking

care of them? Old White and Black, I named them this

way because, that's what they are. White is friendly,

Black is vicious. Wow, that almost sounds racist.

My son in law is a black man, and I never had anything

against him. He's not vicious like Black.

I am glad to be leaving today, no more listening to the

whine's and cries of the old ladies in my room. No more

nights of moans and groans and people asking,

"What are you here for?" Like I'm in prison or

something. It is sort of like a prison. I can't get

myself to eat the nasty soup that they feed me.

It's like they're trying to poison me. Today I am

leaving. Four days in a row urinating in a diaper, I

want to get up and go to the bathroom, but the girl in

the white dress wants me to urinate in a diaper. It's

her job to clean my mess.

What am I going to do when I go home? How is it going

to feel? Will I feel pain? I don't know; I would like

to go and visit my father. My father was the perfect

man. I haven't seen him in years. I wonder if he'll

even recognize me. I have grown a lot skinnier since

he's last seen me. I used to have long hair, now I have

no hair. Chemotherapy can do that sometimes. Now I

just wear a nice silver bandanna. Actually I wear any

old bandanna.

My son in law brought my favorite song last night for
