This is about the WTC...my experiences the next day.

The Day After

The day of September 11, 2001 is a day I and many others wish never
happened. We are all connected to this horrible event that occurred
yesterday. Thousands upon thosands of lives are ruined. Countless is a
word with new meaning. When using this word people are usaully refering
to stars or some other group of objects that will have no effect if a
few or a thousand are lost. I find it sickening to hear this word in
reference to my fellow Americans who are now missing or even dead.

Today is a sombre, mellow and quiet day. The sun is shining brightly and
the air is warm. I sit here and think to myself how I would rather it
be raining. This is a great day for rain. Then I think to myself that
maybe it is a sign from God that he is on our side. He wants us to
prevail over the evil that wrecked our nation. The sun is shining on us
today because we deserve to have a beautiful day. It is God’s gift to
us to ease our mourning.

Earlier this morning my class was shortened due to the tragedy. The mood
was grim and the faces plain. I heard the birds singing for the very
first time today. People walked slowly about wondering about yesterday.
I saw men and women smoking cigarettes in hopes of calming their nerves
or ease their emotions. As people passed by me I searched their faces
to see what they were feeling. Everybody looked the same to me. Nobody
laughed, nobody cried, they just walked, with no emotion at all except
silent sadness.

My generation has not had a major event that we could be a part of. Now
we do. All of us, no matter who we are have a chance to prove to our
mothers and fathers that our generation can be great. The wars that
past generations fought were terrible and gruesome. Those wars never
came as close to home as our new war. We now must fight to defend out
own country and defend the others oppresed by the efforts of terroists.
God is on our side. He is all we need to ensure our victory.
